xml for Linguists

Parallel texts, translation memories and terminology lists are gradually taking the xml path.

The great thing about xml is that it's not a proprietary format and it can be extended for various uses. It's also human-readable and the files can be opened in a simple text editor or transformed by a variety of tools. This makes the wealth of data stored in xml more accessible and more freely available than proprietary formats. This is good news for linguists, translators, writers, etc. who are always on the look-out for new resources.
